How To Repair Aquarium Heater

I have 2 aquarium heaters I utilize to maintain fermentation temps. Sadly I broke one terminal winter. It should all the same work, the just thing incorrect with it is that I broke the drinking glass tubing. I think if I tin can just get something to supplant it it will exist working again.

Only problem is I am not sure what I would use. It needs to seal the electrical elements from getting wet and it needs to exist heatproof I suppose.

Is there something I could use that costs less than buying a new heater or is it only non worth it?

Or is there another mode I can use the heater and thermostat? I am not likewise electronically savvy then that may not be possible for me. Although I could go assistance from my FIL. He works designing industrial heating and cooling controls and sensors... Wish he lived closer I could actually take some snazzy fermentation chambers instead of a tub of h2o and an aquarium heater!

If you can observe a exam tube approx the aforementioned size, that would work. They're heat-proof. Not knowing how much your heater cost, it's hard to say, but I'd just buy some other heater unless you take a lab supply place nearby where you can go a test tube. If you lot go that road, y'all can get a waterproof seal with epoxy.

Yeah, I thought of test tubes simply no I don't take a identify nearby. The original glass looks like a test tube in fact. Could always go one from Equally&S only information technology would have to be the correct size and then there is shipping.

I keep hanging on to it with the hope I will have some sort of revelation as to a new use I could employ information technology for. It was just $1 IIRC at the thrift store. Information technology is a pretty nice one but I guess I did non ay that much to begin with.

I'd toll a new one. You may not need one as big as that. I'd think that a very small ane would do the task. If it's merely cracked, so you may just demand to seal with silicone. I probably wouldn't do that though. Too dangerous. I had an Oscar when I was younger that attacked the heater. It came loose from the suction loving cup that held it in identify and he cracked it against the aquarium wall. It shorted out, simply fortunately it didn't impale him, and there was no fire. Could accept been worse.

aye. the thought of a leak and you lot electrifying your h2o bathroom is worth the $20. Or you could become with a titanium one and not worry about breaking it this winter.

If you figure in all the time you're gonna waste material trying to come up with a fix for an off the shelf $xx particular, yous'll exist money ahead to buy a new heater.

+1 t purchase a new one. Another place to get them is from here. That 1 is a proficient quality i that wont die chop-chop either.

go to walmart.com and social club the 100 watt, $xx Visitherm heater- different other heaters, it has a VERY accurate temp command, instead of just a i through 10 setting- they dont have it in stores, just i ordered it online and picked it up at the walmart down the street in three days

they as well have a fifty watt one thats a few bucks cheaper that would do fine for unmarried carboys, but i apply the 100 watt to heat 2 carboys at a time
